Travel.
So often a word we just throw out there, but it’s intense in definition and different for everyone.
Today, we are at Fort Amsterdam & Fort Amsterdam Cafe in St. Maarten.
The best way for me to describe my kind of travel is through this quick tale.
When in one destination a server told my children the following.
“When you get to a destination the idea is not to sleep as long as you can.”
“Sleeping wastes the day and your treasure is about to unfold.”
My parents taught me, get up.
Explore.
Enjoy.
“At the end of the day fall asleep to the sunset, then you’ve conquered the destination.”
That server spoke words of gold to my kids, who never understood how ‘I roll’ when I travel until then.
Kudos to Little Divi Bay Beach Resort for understanding its patrons who visit.
Today’s Uncovering Divi Little Bay Beach Resort Episode: Fort Amsterdam Cafe will share food, and drinks on the fly.
What they stock, how to get it, and when you can access it!
In this episode of Dana’s Travel and Adventures, I’ll share where to find great gran and go food, so you can get going fast!

My trip was fully hosted, all opinions and images are my own based on reality, not fiction! ~ Dana XO
We had plenty of choices for eating at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, that is what I loved most.
There were no times that we ever could not find what we wanted.
Trust me, food is flowing!
I’m sure by now you’ve read all about The Shack at Divi so you know its also a great option!
Our Discovery – Fort Amsterdam Cafe
Albeit not part of the all-inclusive plan, it’s an invaluable resource for those that get up and go.
We could have dined each morning at the buffet, but that’s just not me.
I got everyone up and used our mornings to get down to business.
Business, on a vacation?
Yep!
We needed to see St. Maarten, the French Side, the Dutch Side, and everything in between.
Unlike other islands and countries you might visit in the Caribbean there is a lot to do here.
There are over 35+ beaches, each with a different feel and crowd.
Places that you can watch planes arrive and depart above your head as well as zip-lining adventures you don’t want to miss out on, etc.
What this means, is that if you get up with the sunrise, and you grab your coffee, pastry, and/or a breakfast sandwich you are apt to get a lot more covered.
Yes, I uttered the word covered.
Unlike the timeshare owners, we were here for just a week.
Saying the words, ‘Just a week’ may sound pathetic, but it would take at least a month to really conquer, learn, and uncover St. Maarten.
Even at that length of time, I don’t think I would have paid it enough homage and foot time.
Uncovering Divi Little Bay Beach Resort – Episode: Fort Amsterdam Cafe
What would a Dana Vento trip be without early morning discoveries?
It would not be a complete trip, but today was going to be a bit different.
We started with a coffee, then we got the view!
We decided to hike to Fort Amsterdam on the Little Divi Bay Beach Resort property.
Our first stop: Fort Amsterdam Cafe.
The kids were sleeping, it was early and no sense waking everyone up.
Michael and I wanted to just enjoy a walk and not entertain 100 questions and chit-chat.
You know, sometimes a few minutes is great for couples.
So, off we went.
Coffee, and a pastry for one of us (just saying I was exercising so I earned those vacation calories!).
Other Early Morning Excursions And Fort Amsterdam Cafe
I am going to tell you this, I have never been happier in my life to find this Almond Croissant.
I put it in the bag and after this picture, SOMEONE, not saying who ate it.
Yeah, I lost out.
Don’t worry I got another a different day, but they are THAT good!
Another morning, we could have gone to the buffet but we had to get into a van and leave for a day trip.
So, the best solution fast, quick grabs at Fort Amsterdam Cafe.
The prices are more than fair and there’s a great selection.
Pastries, Panini’s, Coffee, parfaits, etc.
The only thing I will caution is that it can get really busy at 9 AM and if you are in a hurry…
The Insider’s Secret Of Divi Little Bay Beach Resort & Fort Amsterdam Cafe
For those of you that love a cup of what you just saw, you do not need to travel to Philipsburg for it!
Yea, because Divi has this Gelato right here.
Now you won’t find all the flavors but the best of the best are right in the Fort Amsterdam Cafe!
Want to know why we love this?
With 3 teens and an afternoon want for something cool?
Any guesses where they headed and why?
Want one more look at the food?
Here’s a sandwich Michael enjoyed, they are really good!
Make sure to use Fort Amsterdam Cafe at least once you will be so happy you did!
