A day in St. Maarten is properly spent, frolicking in the water, on the water, at the pool and bay side. Live it up, lather up the sun screen and repeat. Our sun filled days began the day we arrived until we left.
One thing that happens when you just let life fall aside and live in it, is that suddenly you have a hunger and a thirst. Playtime is becomes a time to indulge in those well-earned vacation calories, you have been storing up to use.
What I found out, is that the All-Inclusive, luxury resort has a lot of options, for dining, and drinking. Choosing where to go, what to eat, sample and munch on may prove the most challenging part of the trip! (that’s a good thing y’all)
Each day, a new discovery of another element of Divi Little Bay Beach Resort presented itself and my kids found it out before me. In this episode of Uncovering Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, I am about to share with you The Shack. You need to know what it is and why you will use it.
Uncovering Divi Little Bay Beach Resort – Episode: The Shack
Divi Little Bay Beach Resort offers Gizmo’s Bar and Grill, Seabreeze Restaurant and Bar, Pure Ocean, and The Shack as part of their All-Inclusive Dining Options. Between each, there’s a nice variety of food.
Making choices of where to go and what to eat is not easy. The resort is well spread, but it only takes a few minutes to get from one place or the other by foot. Today, I am going to share some insight on The Shack. It’s grab and go food that is grilled.
I might have passed The Shack at least 5x before I recognized what it actually was used for. Close to Gizmo’s, down from Pure Ocean Pool, it’ was just smack in between all the action. At night if often thrived with its outdoor concept of dining al fresco.
By day, The Shack offers a whole other vibe, offering food made to go with you. But, before you can appreciate good eats, you gotta meet good people. Divi Little Bay Beach Resort is filled with employees who deliver exemplary service. I will be the first one to step up and tell you who exactly helped us.
I want you to experience the same folks. Enjoy their warmth, and passion for their country. When I write these articles, it cuts to the chase. Basically it gets you to who you need to make the best stay possible. However, there are many employees we never even had the good fortune of running into, so just keep that in your head.
The Shack
In all her glory, The Shack nestled between the best of the best, Pure Ocean, Gizmo’s and the pool. Yes, Vacation is here and it smells like BBQ to me. How about you? The design of this is pretty cool too, don’t you think? The color is so lush!
We arrived on Wednesday and perhaps that is why I failed to take note of The Shack. It is situated below the lovely and aesthetically please Pure Ocean Pool, before the Pure Ocean Restaurant and above Gizmo’s.
This is when you are coming down from the Pure Ocean Pool what you see of it. That night, there was a wedding rehearsal dinner going to happen. How perfect!
If you are a cruise guest, using the beach accommodations, buy your food here or at Gizmo’s. Of course you can use the Beach Service too that I have highlighted before. This is truly order, grab and go and yummy.
Gotta tell you, when they are open, it’s busy, nonstop. This is a great way to know if you want to eat somewhere right? My kids loved this food, especially the wings!
There’s a ton of seating and Gizmo the Parrot’s cage sits right next to them. For those that love Jerk Chicken, Rotisserie and BBQ, spicy food, sweet potato fries or just service with a smile, you eat here! It is grab and go.
For me, it was time to meet the people my kids kept talking to me about. Now truth be told, my kids kept saying how much they loved Wendy. I was like Wendy who. They said, “Mom, Wendy at The Shack.’ Yeah, nothing.
Hunger Set In
As you relax, you get hungry and I am fine with that. A culinary girl by nature, I am on a mission to taste all the great foods at all the All Inclusive restaurants as I uncover Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. Therefore, in the name of uncovering and learning, I must eat. Great plan right?
Then, it happened. I went to order my food on day 3 at The Shack. I had been up at the Pure Ocean pool, and had a drink, and suddenly was like, “wowza, gotta eat, very hungry from all this fun in the sun!”
I had a drink in my hand, and no food in the other, something is clearly not right with this picture. Let’s go eat at The Shack.
WENDY & CHEF BENITO
Just like that, I walked down to The Shack and out she came to meet me, Ms. Wendy! What a gift she is. She took my kids on like they were her own. Messing with them, talking to them and always keeping her eyes on them, just to be ‘a mom.’
“Hi Sweetie, what are you getting today.?” “I did not see you yesterday, what did you do, where did you go?” Her daily banter made my kids burst at the seams with happiness to see her. They love her!
She would tell me when she saw them, and then she would stop them and just talk. They loved her. Wendy has this vibrancy and fun personality, she just takes you in like you are her own. Wendy cares for her guests.
Wendy knew that Where Niko Travels could not have honey and she told him exactly what he could and could not get. It’s not just a thing they do for Dana, they get to KNOW their customers because they care!
Chef Benito rose to the challenge of feeding both Where Niko Travels and myself. Niko’s allergies and my avoidance of anything meat, truly take a toll on dining, but, not at the Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. Chef tackled Niko’s allergies. Just communicate.
Then there was the day that Wendy had told the kids she would see them, and did not get to, ‘they are trying to keep me separated from my loves,!’ oh so funny! She’s just that warm and fun. Love her to pieces and miss her.
Food To Go
No sticking around, just order, grab and go back to the pool, the beach, wherever you want. I grabbed mine and headed right back to the Pure Ocean Pool, got a refill on my libation and sat, happily ever after.
There’s Jerk Chicken, Jerk Wings, Shrimp, and more. Read the menu, it’s right there for you to see, and order. Fast. Simple. Fabulous.
Yes, you see sweet potato fries, really a delicacy when done right and better for you than regular fries. Crunchy and loaded with zip, these were perfection and just what my belly wanted.
The shrimp. Let’s just say, when Chef Benito stated, “it’s hot” I retreated and went pretty lame on the fire. So, I got basic grilled shrimp but they were succulent. I have no shame in saying when.
Now, I guess I could have gone hot and then just hung at the swim-up bar some more? However, easy does it, with fun in and the sun and alcohol. I know my limits! From time to time, I make great decisions (lol).
Whenever I sat down, I just sunk my teeth right into the fries, and yum!
The Kids
While my kids are teens and young adults, they are always hungry. They bring a whole new mantra to the All Inclusive theme, ” I need to nibble all day!” Here are the ribs the kids got, they would take afternoon walks around the resort and a food stop was mandatory.
As can be seen, there are enough for an order, but not enough to kill a dinner that Mom and Dad planned for an hour from now! That is how I see this, right?
