Why make fresh bread from your oven?
Let’s keep this fast and simple.
- First, if you have food allergies, often purchasing a loaf of bread is a whole other issue, because you have to track down exactly the right loaf of bread that you can eat!
- Then you have to hold your breath each time you go out to buy an additional loaf, hoping that it will be in stock or not discontinued.
- Or you might be an ingrdient reader and hooray for you, because so am I. What is in that loaf of bread you are buying besides loads of sugar, and preservatives?
- Preservatives are not what I anticipated purchasing so the loaves of bread that I read labels on became my path to purchasing bread baking supplies to perfect my craft instead of buying things in bread I didn’t want.
I invite you to peel that wrapper off of the bread and really read it.
You are going to be surprised at all the things you didn’t sign up for in those loaves!
Now I am done preaching so let’s roll through the list of 19 bread baking supplies to consider to perfect your craft.
No. 1 ~ Hot and Steamy fresh bread from the oven

It needs a cooling rack!
The moisture needs to escape and a cooling rack is your bread’s best friend!
No. 2. ~ Roll Me Out & Make Me
Where are you going to make your bread?
On the counter?
Are you mixing it up on the counter as well?
In fact, that’s not unusual especially as you bake more and more and become more experienced.
But, don’t just work on the counter, use a proper silicone mat!
Make sure your has the measuring built-in to the mat.
Knead on it, make fondant on it, make your bread on it, and BAKE ON it!
No. 3. Cutting Things Up Like A Pro

No. 5. & No. 6. Proof With Me
Kitchen Proofing towels + the basket make up both No. 5 & 6 on my list of Bread Baking Essentials!
Proofing Baskets get the bread you are making to look better!
Bread baskets come in every price level and every shape.
They are also made out of everything from plastic to bamboo.
Choose wisely and look for the bonus items that come with that purchase like a LAME
Use a colander with a flour sack towel if you don’t have the want to purchase a proofing basket.
Again, bread baking supplies are optional and depend on your budget and room in your kitchen as well as your preferences. If you’ve already found a workaround, then go with it!
No. 7 Rip It Baby!
Ok, so that sounds ridiculous.
Rip it, is a way I am saying to you to use a LAME.
This will let your bread bake to the best bread size it can.
Using kitchen shears does not create what you need in this in order to turn out the best fresh bread from your oven with great results so I do suggest this tool.
Additionally, for those bread that you want to look rustic .. this is your key tool.
My pick is this particular LAME as it is well-crafted and comes with 6 blades!
Alternative >> Very Sharp Knife or edge of a razor blade (not a used one!)
No. 7 Le Dutch Oven
For the longest time, I never used the one I owned.
Then, when I began baking bread, the Dutch Oven became my go-to.
For the best, a loaf of bread can be, rustic and round:) grab a dutch oven!
Now that I have used mine so much, I am investing in a larger one for larger loaves.
I will tell you this, a Dutch oven makes some of the best bread ever.
In fact, if you want to up your ROUND and crusty bread baking game this is one of the bread baking supplies you just can’t do without.
No doubt you will love the results. ♥
No. 8 Measure Much?
A good set of measuring cups can help you up to your game in every part of cooking.

Don’t forget measuring spoons too!
No. 9 ~ Parchment makes bread baking easy!
I think this is like one of those things to buy stock in.
When don’t I reach for parchment paper is more the question?
I rip it up and use it for cupcake liners and muffin baking.
Alternatively for cookie baking and for lifting (out of Dutch Oven).
Nonstick is another great piece of this, I mean, the list goes on and on.
If you want me to stop ranting about parchment paper, please buy some!
No. 10 Dough Whisk
When it comes to mixing, my dough whisk is my bestie!
I love it and it can take a beating (lol, a mixing) meaning it is tough and can stand up to dough’s elasticity and movement.
No. 11 Pastry Brush
Oil, egg wash, water!
Need I say more?
If you are baking and adding an eggwash a milk wash, etc. you’ll need a pastry brush.

No. 13 ~ Roll With It!
Do you have a rolling pin in your bread baking supplies?
I know you won’t always need a rolling pin, but they are nice to have when you do need it,
When baking fresh pita bread, I always use a rolling pin, but not for baguette loaves of bread.
Keep the rolling pin, classic, wood, and simple! ⇐
Well, you better get one, because you will love what it can do for your dough shaping.
No. 14 Chop. Clip. Snip.
Yeap, kitchen shears are a must, I think I own about 10 pairs and I still don’t have enough.
From slitting bread to chopping herbs these are my go-to!

Make sure you buy kitchen-safe, food-grade shears! ⇐

No. 16 Pan For Pane and Don’t Forget the Baguettes
Bread pans!
I love my large baking sheets for cookies, they do double duty.
However, you may want a few smaller ones as well.
Plus if you bake baguettes, these should be on your radar as well!
