Outdoor time is a great time but in the day and age we live in, it can be very challenging to get the kids outside and keep them there for a while. Trust me, with three kids, and their friend’s personal experience has shown me that they would all rather spend time inside playing PS4 or browsing YouTube.

Life is about getting involved, moving around and stopping when the day ends, at least that is what a kids world should be. Kids need activity, physical activity and they need to be involved and constantly evolving even when they don’t realize they are evolving.

Solutions that keep kids busy, focused, challenged and in the moment are far and few between. As the kids get older, somewhere between the ripe old age of 10, and tween-hood, suddenly the simple suggestion of biking or going out to find something to do is not as fun.

Cornhole is a great game that challenges skills of every age, allows for creative gaming concepts and is completely affordable as well as reusable over and over again. Lavishly live life out loud and learn about 3 reasons families should have a cornhole set.

Ten To Teen

The challenge of kids getting older provides the challenge of providing age-appropriate games that challenge them, can provide a challenge to our parenting skills.

Swing-sets are below the age level of appropriate and certainly not cool. Catching bugs, frogs or playing tag has already been done enough in the years previous, so what is fun?

While I am not a parenting expert I do have three kids all who have passed through the lovely age of 10 and it truly was and has been a challenge being creative with fun things to do outside. Not everyone has sidewalks for walking, you can only do that so much.

Not everyone has a huge backyard or woods and often economics interfere with all the cool ride-on tech that has come out so what levels the ‘playing field’? Cornhole is the answer.

1. Cornhole Solo

My one son, age 13 is obsessed with the challenges presented to him through cornhole games and every time he plays he challenges himself. In fact that is the beauty of cornhole, it can be one player or multiple making teams.

There are days when his siblings are around and days when he is alone. There are times when his friends are available and other times they are not, but no matter what, he can play cornhole and challenge his shooting score of the bean bags or he can challenge his last score.

During solo playtime, I have also found that he is attempting to improve his skill because he wants to beat his one uncle who he plays with at every family gathering. The cornhole challenge runs deep in this family.

2. Team Play

Cornhole is a wonderful addition to a home as well not just for the kids but for the family. At family gatherings everyone is outside with a drink in hand, waiting to play their game on their team. Challenges get downright rough down to all the trash talk.

The kids live for this because they get sprinkled on the teams and suddenly the party that is getting even bigger and louder.

I guess you would call this family bonding and everyone knows that after the BBQ pit fires down, the action fires up at the Cornhole area. Everyone scrambles to claim their cornhole team bags, each family has a color and then the cornhole bag tossing begins.

For hours the backyard tournament runs, with the tiki torches lit, and the pool candles floating atop its all about team play and competition! The family that plays together, stays together!

Things like, ‘Dad, now I know where I get my great aim from’ and ‘does anyone want Mom on their team’ (yeah I am that bad…) are said throughout the night and fun and bonding from our family is what presides!

Before I move on to point three of 3 reasons families need cornhole, let’s take a look at the set of cornhole my son is using every day and at every party! The set is from Cornhole Worldwide and we had it customized.

My son loves the Pittsburgh Penguins and he wanted that skin on his boards and here it is, in all of its glory.

~Craftsmanship is amazing. The attention to detail is awesome, and because his name is on them simply personalizes the gift making it something he will have for a long time to come (even though we make him share, lol!)

~We could place any picture we wanted, or we could simply choose a color one of their pre-made options. The boards are amazing made with precision.

As for the finish on the board, it is very smooth, in fact, the bags sail on the board like an ice cube across a floor. The boards are very strong and well-crafted and this is a really important point.

Chances are you are going to store these in a shed or in a garage between games, and they are strong and the wood does not break when you pick them up (trust me there are some junk sets out there). The customization is such a cool thing to be able to do, imagine the possibilities.

The cornhole set from Cornhole Worldwide has been the best thing we could have done for our son. He is constantly out there playing and having fun.

Great For Parties

Stop with the age-old challenge of what are we going to do when we have everyone over? Stop looking around for such a simple solution, because once you purchase a cornhole set it has multiple uses.

As I mentioned before, my sister-in-law’s parties have become Cornhole showdowns and of course, that has just carried on at everyone’s party so we just rock out the fun. One set is a small investment in fun and it lasts and lasts with proper care.

Don’t let the party stop when it gets dark. Add this Light modification on to your boards and keep on playing, plus it looks really cool!

Our bets allow us to figure out who’s going to see which movie theater that night when we watch a movie, or what beverage will be served during a meal. It’s all about the fun and the end result of a small token for winning adds a little snap to the game.

I love that my kids spend so much time outside playing. Truly in the stand age of technology, it is not easy to keep the kids outside and happy. My solutions outdoor fun is installing sets of corn hole boards outdoors for the boys to play with at their will.

Outdoor activity begins whenever one challenges the other or we play in teams. There’s nothing like a good time outside to create fun memories of the season that allow.

The 3 Reasons Families Need Cornhole provides unending fun. Lavishly live life outdoors while bonding and having fun. Enjoy cornhole season! ~ Dana XO
