This recipe is easy to so and you can make it fast, with a few simple steps. No ‘Matoka’ here, you can’t have an empty belly and watch Minions, so get ready to lavishly live food out loud and make 3D Minions cake recipe.
The Recipe
You are about to make ONE massive sheet cake, you can cut this in half to make a 1/2 sheet cake, but I will tell you the cake is delicious and disappears faster than a running minion.
For The Cake
4 Boxed Cake Mixes (half it for a half sheet cake)
The instructions on my boxed cake were (yours may differ)
3 eggs per cake mix
1 Cup of Water
1/2 Cup of oil
For The Icing
2 8oz, defrosted Whipped Toppings
For The Minions
6 Golden Creme Filled Sponge Cakes
1 Small Tube of Black Writing Gel Icing
1 Larger tube of Blue Icing
14 Mini Marshmallow Bites(or 7 depending on one eye or 2)
For The Cake
Make cakes 2 boxes at a time per mixing bowl according to box instructions.
Prepare 2 large Rectangular Baking pans(12″ x16″) with nonstick spray and flour.
Pour One set of 2 into one pan and pour the 2nd set into another pan(each pan would be made of 2 boxed cake mixes)
Bake at Temperature on boxed cake mix per directions.
Once Baked, allow to cool for a few hours minimum(remember you are spreading whipped topping on it, it will melt if the cake is not completely cool.
For The Icing
Make sure that you have thoroughly defrosted the whipped topping.
Place whipped topping in a bowl and mix to fluff
Ice The First pan and then top with the second cake
Ice the second cake
For The Minions
Place the sponge cakes on a cutting board
Cut each one to varying heights, I cut some in 1/2, some I took off just a 1/4 and others I barely took any off of at all, to give them all personality.
Once cut to size, take the writing gel and decide if the minion will have one goggle or 2 and then decorate accordingly. Do not GOP the writing gel, just enough to make it shown
Take a Mini Marshmallow, dot it with black writing gel and place in the middle of the goggles to create a 3D eye effect and it is an eyeball.
Finish each minion one by one as many as you want to adorn your cake
Go around each placed minion with thicker blue decorating icing, forming a ring around each(it’s their suspenders)
That is what they look like complete and that is what your cake looks like completed it is a 3D Minion Cake
I thought about it, and this cake is life-like because the golden sponge cakes really give a 3D like dimension to the 1/2 sheet cake, and the eyes with marshmallows definitely have the realistic 3D look, therefore I present the 3D Minions Cake Recipe!
