Can you really discover Anna Maria Island biking?
You really can uncover, tour, scout, visit and travel throughout Anna Maria Island (AMI) biking.
So today, I’ll share a few places to use your pedaling power to seek out, and then you can build on this list while you visit the AMI area.
The quaint barrier island of Anna Maria is 7 miles long and approximately 2 miles wide, and there are designated biking areas to pedal safely.
Tips to enjoy 7 miles of easy pedaling
Anna Maria Island celebrates the beach, and it is a thriving area.
For families, the AMI barrier island is an excellent choice with so much to do and see, yet you could do nothing more than pedal a bit and visit the beach and still have a great time.
What that means is the best time to bike is in the earlier morning before everyone gets up and gets moving.
You can bike later at night to the sunset, make sure you have bike headlights on the bike!
Ride with traffic not against it.
When riding on the non-biking paths, use proper hand signals with traffic.
Do use designated biking paths to stay safe!
Helmets are suggested not required.
Never ride your bike on a beach as it is not part of the 7 miles of easy pedaling and it is not something you are allowed to do on AMI.
Using a lock is a good idea for any item you rent.
You’ll find plenty of parking spaces for your bikes as you discover Anna Maria Island biking as it is bike-friendly.
Seek a quality bike rental such as Beach Bums Island Attitude.
Renting from Beach Bums Island Attitude was the best decision we have made, as they both drop off and pick up the bikes so we could just get on and go!
We made sure to have locks included for when we parked our bikes during our 7 miles of easy pedaling, and baskets for quick shopping trips!
Coquina Beach. Welcome to the City of Bradenton Beach
To discover Anna Maria Island biking, you can’t miss out on the highly regarded Coquina Beach in the city of Bradenton Beach.
Here you’ll find biking paths, 5 of the 7 miles of easy pedaling I have been referring to.
Yes, lots to discover, see, and do here and you’ll be doing most of this on the main street of Gulf Drive.
The path here will lead to shops, restaurants, and waterside to ogle and enjoy.
Do note that this is a multi-use combination, meaning you can walk or bike here, so biker beware of your surroundings.
Park your bike and stay awhile.
Bonus Tip for Coquina Beach Biking and the City of Bradenton
For those of you that want to head over to Longboat Key, you’ll get to travel via the Longboat Pass Bridge because pedaling on this bridge is authorized!
Visit Pine Avenue on the Northern Side of AMI
If you are out and enjoying your 7 miles of easy pedaling, and you are near Anna Maria City Pier, chances are you also are checking out Bayfront Park or the Rod and Reel Pier so Pine Avenue is right there for the taking in!
Don’t miss this stop, because here you’ll find everything
Your stop for shopping, boutiques, antiquing, and really where you can relish in a fabulous stop for a while.
Hungry? Eat here after exploring the Piers and the avenue itself.
You’ll find plenty of options to enjoy from food to shopping and it might just become our favorite area on AMI!
