Foresight is better than hindsight and today I’ll share the #1 largest Outer Banks vacation rental mistake to avoid so you don’t have to experience the disappointment that many do and will continue to encounter as they have not read this article about the big OBX vacation mistakes that many make!
I just got back from the Outer Banks, staying at the Corolla Light community.
It’s true that I am partial to the OBX and it is one of my favorite USA destinations, with sweeping views of endless sand dunes, wild horses, beautiful greenery, and the splendid Currituck Sound.
Currituck county truly feels like a second home area to me and I travel there year after year, but there is some sad news on the horizon for many vacationers that fail to read this blog post about the Outer Banks.
So rather than making the largest Outer Banks vacation rental mistake you could possibly make, I’ll share the foresight of what you could miss and then share the mistake!
After all, if you don’t know what you are missing, you can’t appreciate the mistake you are about to make!
#1 Largest Outer Banks Vacation Rental Mistake That Will Co$t You BIG!
February is my favorite month because it’s my birthday and Valentine’s day, plus usually the month of change in the cold weather pattern.
However, for those that gravitate more to the warmth of the sun basking against your face and skin, summer breaks, vacations, and getaways, will definitely be your preferred options.
While February may not be your favorite vacationing month, I’ll say this, it will be the month of reckoning for many when it comes to the Outer Banks.
The #1 largest Outer Banks vacation rental mistake that can cost you big is frenemies with February, but we will get to that shortly.
First, let’s talk about hassle-free check-ins and the best vacation rental broker in the Outer Banks and yes I am totally biased for multiple reasons.
Experience True Vacation Rental With The Best!
If you choose the right real estate and rental broker, such as Brindley Beach Vacation Rentals, you will never regret anything.
The communities offer so much for families to do from tennis to walking trails and easy access to the beaches, and fabulous swimming pools and that’s the shortlist.
The homes in all of the OBX vacation rentals communities are fabulous and for a vacation house to make my fabulous list it has to be clean and run well by the vacation concierge (responsive when we have an issue that might creep up) that we rent from and that is exactly what we got with our Brindley Beach Vacations rental!
To be fair, stuff always happens inside a beach rental no matter who you rent from, such as the Cable or Dish not working, or light bulbs in high places that you can’t just replace yourself without a service call.
Hot tubs might not be working right, maybe a window won’t close, but, if you rent with Brindley Beach Vacations you can be assured of top-notch customer service.
It is a real, functioning, multilevel home, and just like inside your home, things happen, but don’t worry IF you are staying with Brindley Beach Vacations, they’ve got you covered.
Book your vacation in the OBX before you finish reading this or finish reading and then book it, but don’t wait!
Outer Banks Things You’ll Regret If You Don’t Experience Them
Every time we are at the OBX, I try something new, repeat something I’ve done before and then seek more.
- the Corolla Horse Adventures is my fave
- visiting Whalehead was new and fun
- biking time on the Currituck sound is a must
- a walking trip to the Currituck lighthouse
- seeking out new places to eat is always at the top of our list
- shopping is a big part of vacation too and we seek it out!
OBX Vacation Rental Mistakes | What You Might Miss In The Outer Banks
Brindley Beach Vacation and Sales has a 600+ portfolio of rentals both on and off the beach, and in the famed 4×4 area, so choices abound.
Once I settled in, like most, I change into my favorite shorts, and a comfy hoodie and really walk around the interior of the vacation rental home.
Then, I really dig in and see and do because as I mentioned, from tanning, wave frolicking, surfing, fishing, kiteboarding, biking, and discovering wildlife, to playing tennis and pickleball, vacation fun is around every corner.
In fact, there’s so much to see and do, that I find it hard to convey that often the best experience in the Outer Banks is right within your vacation rental.
Time is a thief, don’t let it steal time from dawn to dusk!
Brindley Beach Vacations Offer Decks Shine Bright
Morning until the night that is the time of your vacation experience days when you are in the Outer Banks and the sun whether setting or rising won’t disappoint!
For those that have been to the Outer Banks, and have stayed in a beach rental vacation home, you already know that the decks are multi-layered, and fabulous getaways from everyone in the house when you just need a moment.
Additionally, the decks on the beach homes are also an incredible way to experience the beginning of the day and the end, whether sitting, standing, chatting, or laying out!
As the mornings on this Fall trip were rather cool, often we experienced sunrise right from the large kitchen eating area, or the window-filled family room, in the large, well-appointed couch or one of the armchairs as I sipped on my coffee.
To experience the greatest natural show on earth, the sunrise, all I had to do was draw open a privacy shade in one of the multiple windows.
It was here, that I bid adieu to the shadowy decks as the sun rose and graced the room with warmth and light.
Here, I cherished a different perspective a far cry from my summer stays. Rather than creeping onto the beach, and the cool wet morning sand, I stayed warm, in my PJ bottoms, hoodie, and flip-flops.
Yet, the long, sweeping rays of the sun, still managed to penetrate my face with warmth, as the sunlight gained new heights in the sky working its way overhead.
Dull skies quickly gave way to a very clean blue sky, cloudless, and strawn with lovely yellow-orange light, welcoming the great OBX day ahead.
More Of What You Might Miss In The Outer Banks If You Make The #1 Largest Outer Banks Rental Mistake
No matter where I walked or stood throughout the entire OBX vacation rental community of Corolla Light the scent from the fragrant tea olive evergreen shrub was in the air.
Often I could smell pine as well, as the area is laden with fresh, pine trees around each turn and many homes.
When biking throughout the community, large, bountiful, pinecones offered nature’s best right at my feet, step after step, with soft beds of long-needled pine straw as their pillow for resting after a long fall off of the accompanying trees.
Via the bike and walking trails on the ocean side of Corolla Light, I could always hear the overlapping sounds of waves both breaking and then silence in between.

Cool Blowouts Are Best + FREE at Brindley Beach Vacations
First, I love cool air blowouts, for a great hair blowout brings on new styles and feels good.
Did I mention that I got a cool air blowout basically each and every day?
But don’t worry about spending $150 on that blowout, because every Brindley Beach Vacation rental offers that free with each stay, no tip required and a new style every time!
I just sauntered on down to the beach, took out my ponytail, or hair clip, and let the beach wind whip on through. Free, cool air blowouts that are non-damaging to my ends!
But wait, there’s more FREE to grab with Brindley Beach Vacations
I suffer from congestion when I am in my hometown of Pittsburgh, but, not when I am here!

What Will You Miss In The Outer Banks If You Make This Vacation Rental Mistake We Want You To Avoid?Cooking in those well-stocked kitchens
Because the staff at Brindley Beach Vacations wants your trip to be the best, they take well-stocked kitchens very seriously, and homes that share great amenities.
In some of the homes, I’ve had great under-counter ice makers, large granite countertops with endless space, and in my most recent rental a large open kitchen concept that allowed more than one cook to function at a time!
At any family gathering, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home and I love that before I rent any home with Brindley Beach Vacations I can find out WHAT is in that kitchen.
They set the standard, on the Brindley Beach Vacation & Sales website so I know what to EXPECT in my rental home from coffee makers to freezer chests and exterior showers!
From meal preparation to cocktail hour, the kitchens never cease to amaze me and each has exceeded my expectations every time.
Plus, in the homes, there are often a lot of extras like board games, a regular coffee maker, and the Keurig as well, plus, beach chairs, and more, which alleviates hauling too much stuff!
What exactly is the bad news on the horizon that I mentioned at the beginning? I mean with all this good, how could there be any worse?
So what is the #1 largest Outer Banks vacation rental mistake to avoid?
Well, it is a very easy answer and I am so sad to share the OBX vacation rental mistake you might have already made or might make by February.
For those of you that have been looking at the different Brindley Beach Vacation rental properties and are still not sure which one you want, you truly will suffer the most.
If you have told your family that you are going to the Outer Banks in the summer of 2023 you might already have made the OBX vacation rental mistake and I am so sorry.
Let me take off the bandage really fast so it might not hurt so much.
The #1 largest Outer Banks vacation rental mistake not to make is to oscillate, wait, and then decide on which rental home to book, because by February, Brindley Beach Vacation rentals will be sold out.
It’s true because they are already at 80% booked capacity!
Don’t Dawdle Book Your Rental Home In The Outer Banks
The gift I am giving you right now is the gift of urgency & What You Will Miss!
If you see a rental home in the Outer Banks offered by Brindley Beach Vacations and you like it, book it.
I would compare making a rental decision from Brindley Beach Vacations, like a trip to TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and HomeGoods, come on ladies you know what I am talking about right?
If you see what you like, grab it, put it in your cart, and go for it, because if you don’t it won’t be there when you go back for it.
The inventory is large, but so are the vacationer amounts, so grab what you want, and you won’t regret it.
For those that make a quick decision, and then decide you are not going to the Outer Banks (sorry for you, but) others will SNAP up that property within seconds and you’ll get your money back so why are you hesitating?
The only time you should ever hesitate with a Brindley Beach Vacation house is well. No, slash that, never hesitate, and snag it when you see it.
Our Rental In The OBX Vacation Rental Community Of Corolla Light
On my recent Fall trip, we stayed in a property in Corolla Light, named Golden Days ♥♥♥!
It is really a perfect family home with 2 master suites and kids’ rooms with a great Jack n’ Jill bathroom!
When we arrived, everyone unpacked and then we stocked up the kitchen (the normal process right?)
We loved the multi-decks, the parking, the access to the community paths, and the beach!
The space in this house was fabulous and with young adults, and grandparents we all had areas to sprawl out in and to hang in together!
