Wind, water and Mother Nature are having their way with me and it is down right chilling! This season of winter while very beautiful is almost most undesirable weather and fending off the weather any way I can means staying warm! Is there such a thing as a wind and water resistant coat, that is thin enough to wear everywhere without compromising style?
Lavishly living fashion out loud usually comes with a pretty high price tag as warmth, and fashion don’t always go hand in hand. Often I have picked up coats that are ‘cute’ but do not really keep your warm, but I love the look. Then there are the others that are warm and really lack a great fashionable appearance, so it becomes a challenge of what do I want warmth or fashion? There has to be a mix of both. As a mom, I am running all over the place and I needed a jacket that just kind of sat right below my butt line so if I am on the bleachers cheering the kids on there is a little warmth. This is my story of lavishly living fashion out loud in a new jacket.
I am back and forth with my opinion of Free Country quality. This particular jacket from Free Country is a great jacket, but I have had others that are not so warm, see the review here that I just did on a Free Country I picked up at a warehouse club. However, this particular Free Country Jacket offers great soft shell jackets that provide flexibility, fashion and warmth with water resistance! The latest in jackets are soft shell, thin and actually look good on, but often the price tags on these fashion forward, sleek-looking jackets are reprehensible. I know you can get a good jacket without a huge price tag, and this particular jacket is really warm and available at a great price.
Have you seen the prices of some of those jackets out there that are thin, warm and offer water and wind resistance? With a houseful of people to shield from winter weather I just wanted a simple update on a jacket, something stylish, good looking and basic and this fit the bill. Pittsburgh winters create weather that is often unpredictable. We may start the day off at 60 degrees and suddenly due to a rain storm fall into the 40’s and then the next day be snowed in! Free Country Soft Shell Horizon is built for weather like this. Soft shell is a soft flexible outer-shell that offers a protective water resistant membrane and a soft and warm interior lining. The inside lining is buttery soft and offers an inside pocket to hide away your cell phone!
Style is something I refuse to sacrifice when I am shopping for jackets and Free Country makes it easy to be a fashionista while staying warm and dry. I have a coat that I look ridiculous in as there is no waist, and it is just a huge puffer coat which does nothing but make me look short and funny! The Women’s Horizon soft shell jacket from Free Country offers a waist with a drawstring which means I can actually look like a person rather than a cotton puff in a coat! The waist on this offers a drawstring so I can adjust)You can wear the waist loose or tight depending on how much you want to accentuate your curves! While this jacket is a tad different from the one I got, it is also very much the same in respect to where it falls and how it looks on. This jacket is really a great jacket all the way around and the price allows you to look lavish but not pay for luxury!
A Different Review of A Different Free Country Jacket
Now if you want to see what I thought about a different Free Country Jacket I picked up, check out my YouTube Video Here as this jacket was a bit disappointing.
As you can see, not every jacket from the brand is going to be a home-run, but there are many different options available. I will say, after a year of use on the first jacket described, it is still going strong and I love it. While I should have considered the price tag on the second purchase a true indicator of what it might offer me, I hoped for the best and wanted it to compare to a North Face, but let’s face it, no one can really rival a North Face! In the end, it is all about fashion and warmth, and there is a jacket out there for everyone. I do hope that this review helped you learn a bit more about the brand, as you will see it in so many retailers like Kohl’s. Lavishly live the out doors, cold weather and fashion out loud as you stay warm, hooded up and fashion forward!
