When I first visited Banff, enjoying dog sledding, ice fishing, and snowmobiling, I thought it gave me a taste of Alaska. But Alaska has always whispered to me, a siren call of wild beauty and untamed landscapes.

And while Banff was a snow-kissed wonderland, Alaska promises something more – a deeper connection with nature, a journey into the heart of the wild. But there are real reasons why an Alaska dream cruise is at the top of my bucket list.

When you travel enough you understand that not every moment is for a photo and not every place needs a photo. What places traveled to like Alaska need people to look, feel, and experience. Taking that away will allow me to live in the moment and forever imprint it in my memory.

Here’s what tops my bucket list for the ultimate Alaska dream cruise trip:

Imagine cruising along pristine waters, gazing at massive ice formations like Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier, each telling a thousand-year-old story. The grandeur of these icy behemoths, sometimes calving right before your eyes, is the spectacle of a lifetime. I want to own this moment, experience it, and relieve it in my memory over and over. It’s my “I’ve arrived moment!”
2. Wildlife Wonders: Alaska’s waters and shores are teeming with wildlife. From humpback whales breaching in sync to the sight of brown bears ambling along the coastline, each moment promises a new, thrilling encounter with nature in its purest form. Nature is a huge draw and seeing the natural settings is like a National Geographic moment IMO.
3. Cultural Immersion: The rich culture of Alaska, particularly the stories and traditions of the Native Alaskan communities, adds a layer of depth to the journey. Learning about the history and lifestyle of the Huna Tlingit and other indigenous people offers a profound sense of connection to this rugged land.

This is IMO where Holland America excels beyond any brand (so yes I want to sail with Holland America to Alaska)
