Do you have kids in sports? If you do, you are all too familiar with those cheap sports shirts that are knitted mesh that are given out to the kids on teams. These little suckers really create static cling and it gets annoying. Yes I am a lot Type A but these shirts are just off the wall ridiculous with the amount of cling and shock they provide. I have come up with a quick solution to help fight the cling on of a shirt. Static electricity makes clothing cling and uncomfortable and you also get static passed into your hair, so here is how I solved this little sports shirt problem and I hope it helps you. You will need to make a trip down th laundry detergent aisle. Here’s a DIY to lavishly live without that sports static.
The Solution to Static Cling From Cheap Sport Shirts
No More Sports Static
After our first few months in learn-to-play hockey, the shirt my youngest was using was getting a bit ‘static-laden’ and annoying as it was clinging to itself! My son asked me to do something but whether I hung it dry or dried it, fabric softened it, N-O-T-H-I-N-G helped until I tried what I used for static cling on my clothing…..a Dryer Sheet. I took one dryer sheet(brand does not matter) and I rubbed it all over the shirt and magically the static went away, the sleeves rolled where they needed to be and the shirt did not stick to itself.
Now things have changed and we get those great $150 shirts so the static cling is not there, just a big expense. I miss those youth hockey days with cheaper sports shirts as it kept things light. I always kept a package of the dryer sheets in his hockey bag and it even helped with smell, not a lot but it did help some. You don’t need big brand to help you out with this trick, you just need dryer sheets and a want to kill off static electricity. No more shocks, and no more clothing sticking to other clothing, the static is all gone. Don’t forget you can also use these to douse down flyaway on the head/hair area as well, just in case you are stuck with a little static electricity as well.
