Unboxing the Magic: The Ingredients
What follows in an overview of the meal, and the exact directions and recipe are at the end of the post for you to print and use! Enjoy.
The Star of the Show: Pork Tenderloin
The tender and lean pork tenderloin are at the heart of our zesty masterpiece. We transform this simple ingredient into an orchestra of flavors, all playing in perfect harmony.
The Flavor Architects: Red Onion and Garlic
Next, we bring the flavor architects, red onion, and garlic. Their purpose? To lay the foundation of deep, savory undertones that enrich the dish’s overall flavor profile.
The Smooth Operator: Extra Virgin Olive Oil
As the smooth operator in our recipe, extra virgin olive oil serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it harmonizes all our ingredients, ensuring the flavors meld beautifully. Secondly, it brings its unique, slightly fruity flavor to the party, enhancing the dish’s complexity.
The Showstopper: Lime
Our key ingredient, the lime, also takes on a dual role. Its juice and zest, together, add a refreshing tang, heightening the other flavors. The acidity of the lime acts as a natural tenderizer, breaking down the proteins in the pork and making it melt-in-your-mouth soft, and it also seasons the meat!
The Maestro: Chili Lime Powder
Finally, we introduce the maestro of our culinary symphony: Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Powder. This magical ingredient adds a Tex-Mex-like experience without any heat. It pulls all the individual flavors together, orchestrating the performance to create our zesty chili lime masterpiece.
Let the Flavor Journey Begin: The Method
Our zesty chili lime pork tenderloin may sound gourmet, but be aware that its preparation is as straightforward as possible. The steps are so simple even a novice chef could pull off this flavorful dish.
Here’s how it goes:
Prepping the Pork
Slice the tenderloin in half, then cut into bite-sized cubes. This will ensure that every piece soaks up maximum flavor from our zesty chili-lime marinade.
Creating the Marinade
Next, combine the finely chopped red onion, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, lime zest, lime juice, and chili lime powder in an airtight container. Shake the container like you mean business mixing everything up.
Marinating the Pork
Add the pork to the marinade, seal the container, and give it another good shake, ensuring the meat is well-coated. Refrigerate for one hour at least. This will give the marinade enough time to work its magic on the pork, infusing it with myriad flavors.
Cooking the Pork
Once the pork is marinated, cook it your preferred way. Grill it to add a smoky dimension, pan-fry it for a deliciously crispy exterior, air-fry it for a lighter option, or cook it on an outdoor skillet for a fun, al fresco dining experience.
