Today’s 7 simple Italian sauces post on my website, will change how you enjoy pasta sauce forever.
Each sauce is not time-consuming and they all turn out consistent time after time.
No more worries about the grocery store lines, or forgotten brands of what you liked last time you purchased it.
Instead, you can make your own sauce in minutes.
Trust me when I say, each of these sauces offers a variety of tastes, thickness and multiple ways to be enjoyed.
Whether you plan to top pasta, meat, or seafood with these, they will hold their own.
You can use any of these sauces as a starter for other sauces or in soups and recipes, not just as a sauce!
Better yet, a few of them are made in electric pressure cookers cutting the normal sauce cooking time in half!
7 Simple Italian Sauces are HEALTHIER than the grocery store versions just based on the fact you are PUTTING in the ingredients yourself.
No additives, no preservatives, and hey there, you can zip them in a bag and FREEZE the leftovers!
If I am being brutally honest, and chef-like, I’ll confess that I can’t stop taste-testing each.
So make sure you either make one of my bread recipes or that you buy a loaf of bread to help you in that taste-testing mode!
Now, are you ready to cook any of these 7 Simple Italian Sauces To Top Off Your Pasta, Meat, or Seafood Dishes?
7 Simple Italian Sauces
Really, there is something so divine about the smell of sauce wafting throughout the house.
While I have heard some people say that going into an Italian Home, you often bring your dinner home with you, I just chuckle.
What they mean is that many ‘old-timers’ don’t use an exhaust fan and their clothes end up smelling like the food, lol.
None of the following sauces are difficult to make, and the end result is just the most perfect assault of richness and flavor you can savor!
After chopping onions and garlic for any recipe, you’ll want this bar to magically take the SMELL Off of your fingers and hands!
Basic Ingredients To Keep On Hand For Simple Italian Sauces
You might guess that having a few cans of tomatoes in a can (or sauce in a can) is a good decision.
It is.
You can use that in soup, or in the creation of some of these sauces.
Also, keep a few small cans of tomato paste on hand, but do try to buy the ones that are not seasoned.
Whether you keep fresh heads of garlic or minced garlic on hand, is really your call, just keep one or other stocked in small quantity.
Extra virgin olive oil is a must, but you choose the brand that makes you happy!
Salt, pepper, dry basil, and oregano are also valuable resources as well.
As for everything else, that’s all in what your craving, from meat to meatless.
Did I forget to mention that a few boxes of your favorite pasta cuts from long to short are always a great idea to keep on hand?
Olive Oil & Garlic (Aglio e Olio)
Really this is one of my favorite sauces.
Not only do I use it on pasta, but I also use it on rice, as well as salmon dishes.
There’s really nothing like it.
You can tweak it to be a bit spicy if you prefer more heat or you can keep it just light and tasty!
Garlic is key in this recipe!
Roll out the mints afterward!
Don’t forget to have a Great Garlic Press it makes mincing a breeze!
5-Ingredient Tomato Sauce
Yes, it is possible to make an absolutely, fresh and tasty sauce with only 5 ingredients!
Be a masterful chef, knowing less is more and this will be your go-to sauce!
Instant Pot Bolognese Sauce
IF you have ever wondered if great sauce can be made in an Instant Pot, fear not it can.
Once I learned how, years back, I converted every single recipe to my electric pressure cooker.
There’s no sense in spending the day with the stove on when I can make most sauces in under 30 minutes or less.
The key to any sauce in the Instant Pot is less is more.
Funny, I keep repeating that theme throughout this post!
Who loves mushroom sauce?
I do, but not in most restaurants that load it with sugar and crappy inauthentic spices.
This is not only simple but rich and savory and the presentation can’t be beaten!
Vegetable (MEATLESS) Bolognese
This is a home run no matter the night or day.
IF you have someone who does not eat meat or if you are trying to give meat up once a week, use this sauce atop seafood.
Scallops, shrimp, flounder, salmon, tuna steak, I’ve tried them all.
Better yet, don’t forget to try these sultry sauce atop ravioli and tortellini.
Chances are you will eat fewer ravioli as it is a very filling sauce but you will love the perfect substance and heft to this meatless bolognese (ragu).
While I used a slow cooker, you can simmer this on the stove.
Yes, I do make my crab meat pasta sauce in the instant pot.
It’s fail-safe, however, it can be made using the same ingredients in a saucepot atop a stove.
I’m not one to enjoy the smell of seafood later, even with a massive exhaust fan running, so I tend to use this recipe a lot!
This is a heaver sauce when plated, so you will need less pasta per person.
In fact, it is quite filling for what it is, tomatoes and crab meat.
I will suggest an angel-hair pasta cooked al dente as it’s pasta, but you can choose any you prefer.
Garden Tomato Sauce
Albeit Garden Tomato sauce can often turn out thin, you’ve just got to use enough paste to make sure that does not happen.
I use the Whole tomato, including the skins.
By the case and then frozen, this sauce is the one to stock your freezer with so you can use it as a starter in soup or sauce!
There’s nothing quite like a garden-fresh tomato in a sauce!
Enjoy each and every sauce, and don’t forget to inhale when you prepare all of them.
