Sun, fun and family time are what make the sunny state of South Carolina, also known as the Palmetto State an amazing place for vacations. The days are carefree, wave splashing, water-park racing fun. Our days have been in on the shoreline, in the pool, and all over the great area of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There are not enough hours in the day to do all the fun activities but we are managing to crunch a lot into our family vacation at the premiere destination of Myrtle Beach. As you know by now we have been staying in the Crown Reef Resort, and that is a paradise all on it’s own, as it has just undergone a 7 million dollar renovation and all rooms are ocean-side. Today’s adventures not only include time at our lush resort, but also time spent out on an adventure of Jurassic proportions as we visit one of Myrtle Beaches 6 fun miniature golf locations where the whole family can enjoy fun. The Jurassic Golf is part of what makes the Grand Strand so darn grand! Are you ready to live fun in Myrtle Beach lavishly out loud?
Mini Golf At Myrtle Beach Jurassic Golf
I am all teed off today(lol) and ready to play a few games of mini golf and my children are ready to compete. We should have walked from the Crown Reef Resort, but we drove and yes there is plenty of parking and our destination: Jurassic Golf at 2900 South Kings Highway. Our plan, beach by day, and to play mini golf by night. My children have decided that it is every man for himself, no teams and that the competition is on to see who can play the best game mini golf as we adventure into a world that is loaded with 10 million year old dinosaurs. I only hope I am not as archaic at playing mini golf as the cave men might have been.
After choosing our ‘cavemen’ clubs, we are ready to knock a few golf balls around. There are families with every age there and ready to play and I believe that is the nicest thing about miniature golf, because from the littlest of children to the grandparents, everyone can tag along and play the game as it is not strenuous.
My son started the tournament off with a hole in one, setting the bar high for the rest of us and none of us were ever able to make a hole in one beyond his amazing talent. I did manage a few 2 shots per most holes and the kids were averaging just about 2-3, but there were a few holes like the last one where they just did not care how many strokes it too them as they were bound and determined to play in that water!
Our biggest decision of the night is not who starts first because that is easy, whoever does the best at the first hole, rather it is which of the two courses do we venture into? The Ice Age or the Predator. The difference between the courses: Ice Age is filled with fog and water so try playing through the fog and keeping your ball rolling through 18 holes, while Predator offers up the challenge of 18 holes through mountainous terrain, and the rolling hills(almost like we are back in the ‘burgh’ without ever leaving home) and the challenging ridges leave you wondering how your ball will roll. We decided to take the challenge of dinosaurs on, as the other terrain was a bit more challenging.
Of course, my boys are the most curious and before every shot they venture to look at the layout of the hole, and see how their shot could direct. My one son is crazy about getting it right the first time, so he watches another couple play through before he even is willing to line up his shot. My goodness, I thought this was supposed to be fun and relaxing, my son is turning it into a really competitive event ~ GAME ON! The boys are loving the animated dinosaurs, it is almost like a trip the museum.
When we play mini golf we know that we will each have about 3 strokes per ball(at a minimum..eyeroll) and often up to 6, but we remember that there are others who need to play and this is just a ‘friendly’ competition. The boys are really amused at how the lay of the land controls the roll of the ball, they always love this.
