When I did eat meat, 12 years ago, I could never find a dish that was thick, rich and free of brown-sugar.

I’ve Mastered the Art of Savory Instant Pot Bolognese Sauce
In reality, I’ve attempted several different sauces in the Instant Pot.
Not all sauces turn out well, nor do all the sauces make their way onto my website.
A good sauce needs to maintain its smell, and taste as well as being thick enough to cling to pasta!
When a sauce does not meet those items, it’s nixed off my list of reputable.
Creating Thick Enough Sauce for Bolognese Sauce
You might think that sauce is made with just puree.
In that case, you are wrong.
Some of the best and most rich-tasting sauces are created with paste.
However, the paste is a beastie to tame if you don’t understand how to break it down and use it.
The paste is bitter.
Therefore, breaking the bitter out of the paste without over saturating it is crucial.
Using paste helps thicken the puree and sauce.
Done correctly, the pasta will cradle the bolognese sauce you are about to create.
Conversely, done wrong, you will have a watery spatter that will need to be ‘spooned’ up, rather than forked.
You Won’t Be Able To Resist Doing This And It’s Ok!
When you take the lid off the Instant Pot and see the sauce, odds are you are going to want to dive in.
You’ll have a piece of bread and probably a spoon of sauce and that’s all good.
Tasting your bolognese sauce out of the Instant Pot is a pleasure.
Packed with flavor, the Instant Pot Bolognese Sauce won’t disappoint.
That said, you’ll have to taste it to believe it.
Describe Bolognese Sauce
Bolognese sauce for those that don’t quite know what it is, is a meat-based sauce.
Generally, Bolognese sauce consists of ground beef.
Some may use very tiny chopped cubes of beef and still reach the same results
This means there is versatility in preparation and ingredients.
For those not able to find ground beef of some sort, buy small beef cubes or chop beef into tiny cubes, minced.
The sauce will be thick, not runny.
Bolognese sauce is best served atop pasta.
You can use bow ties, or linguine, and rigatoni are our favorites for they all seem to best latch the sauce.
My Sauce Is Different because
Brilliantly created without the use of onion is the starting point.
Sometimes onion can overpower what is supposed to be happening with favor.
A sauce that is hearty can stand on its own and I don’t feel that onion has a place in my sauce.

Serving Suggestions for Instant Pot Bolognese Sauce
You might want to bake a loaf of my Italian Sesame Mini loaves of bread.

Recipe For Instant Pot Bolognese
- 2 Large Peeled Garlic Cloves
- 3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 2 - 6 oz Cans of Paste
- 9 - Cans of Water
- 2 Teaspoons of Salt
- 2 Tsp of Sugar (white)
- 4 Basil Leaves - rinsed, cut
- 1 A pound of Pasta boiled
- Program Instant Pot To Saute
- Add Oil, Garlic, and Meat.
- Begin to crumble the beef as it browns.
- Mix and break it down into crumbles.
- While meat is browning, continue to move it around to evenly saute.
- Add in fresh basil.
- In a bowl, take 2 cans of paste and combine with 9 cans of water. (using paste cans)
- Whisk to combine.
- Once finished, drain meat (as long it is all evenly browned.
- Return meat to Instant Pot Liner.
- Add in paste mixture.
- Next salt and sugar.
- Turn Off Saute Mode.
- Place Lid on.
- Lock and close the pressure valve.
- Program Meat/Stew to 30 minutes.
- Upon completion of the meat/stew cycle, allow the bolognese to natural release to open.
- Stir upon opening to mix top and bottom of bolognese.
- Scoop or ladle onto a bed of pasta to cradle.
- Refrigerate or Freeze leftover sauce.
