Traveling is always wearisome. You can talk to the most traveled person and the bottom line is the proper lodging can make the difference between a good trip and a great trip. Have you ever stayed at places that you just can’t get comfortable at or the mattresses feel like the coil springs are coming through? What about where the bed or linens are not crisp and fresh and the towels have a funk? We have and I swore those places off long ago. I want my kids to have the appropriate sleeping and staying environment. We also rarely travel for less than a 3 days jaunt, so finding a facility that offers extended stays is a great way to travel. Extended stay at the Residence Inn means that we have a full kitchen, so we can hit the grocery store and the kids can eat when they want, and as we have time, without waiting for take out or for the insides of their stomachs to eat the outside. Our most recent venture was to Buffalo, actually it was The Residence Inn Cheektowaga, New York for a hockey tourney, and Valentine’s Day Weekend and what a great time we had at our Residence Inn. The management team at The Residence Inn have this establishment running like a fine-tuned clock and there is nothing you can need or want that really can’t be handled from work to relaxation, they know the Buffalo area.
I love when a front desk offers fresh fruit, candies, hot tea or coffee round the clock, and while it is more the exception than the norm, it really makes for a much more comfortable stay, home-like. My kids love to be able to grab a treat as they call it as they purposefully cruise past the front desk. Our arrival night was Valentine’s so the kids grabbed a few mini cupcakes that were waiting on the front desk and then they found the above in their room, and you can only imagine how excited they were! These are all little perks that have my kids loving their stays at the Residence Inn. We began staying at the Residence Inn extended stays a few years back when we were headed to Georgia and my kids have been hooked ever since. The kitchens, refrigerators, breakfasts, separate rooms and bathrooms all make traveling as a family a much more relaxing event.
Let’s face it, driving, flying or however you get from place to place is tiresome and can often wear down even the most patient of parents as kids push all those buttons. Tired, hungry and in need of rest, separate rooms and bathrooms can offer a bit of alone time, while keeping the family together. We love being able to crash in separate rooms, have a few bathrooms and a full kitchen at our beck and call. With a hockey tourney beckoning us to wake up at 4:45 in the morning for an early start, we just crashed when we arrived.
The Residence Inn is an extended stay facility and often used by those traveling for work in the same area for longer periods of time, but it is also perfect for those of you traveling with your family. Breakfasts are included with the stay, and tea and coffee are available around the clock right by the front desk, so you are always sure to be full steam ahead with your caffeine needs. The indoor pool in this facility let the kids rest up after full hockey days and it let my husband and myself a few minutes to just unwind as we enjoyed the heated pool area. I am not sure what led to this, but my kids had the wonderful idea to jump out into the cold snow and then back into the warm pool area, but I suppose they just feel comfortable with the great environment and relax – Which is after all what I want for them.
The Residence Inn in Cheektowaga is exceptionally meticulous, from bathrooms to hallways and rooms and makes for a perfect stay if you are visiting the Falls, Buffalo, or even the vineyards which are pretty close. Here is a little bit more about Cheektowaga Residence Inn.
