Avoid Travel Constipation 3 words that hide the 1 big truth! Being constipated when traveling happens to most so you are not alone!
Truly the ultimate revelation of how to poop on vacation is dedicated to everyone out there that has traveled away from your home, vacation, to relatives, to a partner’s home, inlaws, friends, etc., and experienced the inability to stay regular while traveling, also loosely translated as you haven’t been able to poop so something is messing with your poop cycle, but you gotta drop that bowel movement out of your belly and into the toilet soon because your back and stomach feel like they are going to explode, and you don’t feel like eating, drinking or engaging in any activities!
As a travel writer, I can tell you that I have suffered through all of these symptoms and problems, and while it might seem like I am poking fun, I am not, and I’ve used so many fun euphemisms for the word poop I hope you find one you use!
Rather, I am trying to lighten the subject itself and provide a more entertaining spin so that it makes reading enjoyable and hopefully gives you a good belly laugh because there’s nothing better than being able to go back and laugh at yourself.
When you can be real with a subject you can conquer it and I’ll say that after childbirth and colonoscopies, nothing is off the table when it comes to topics! Be real and live it out loud!

Let’s Dump The Issues So You Can Poop On Vacation
In order to keep on your poop cycle while traveling, you’ll want to master the royal squat on vacation or anywhere you travel that is not your own home as it is a necessary skill to have.
Each of the reasons you can’t pinch a loaf while traveling can be turned around without much extra effort so you can prevent yourself from the arduous feeling of being constipated.
Don’t Let Poop Anxiety Affect Your Traveling and Poop Schedule.
For many, pooping on any other throne than their in-home porcelain god is not possible.
IS poop anxiety stage fright? Not the kind I am referring to, but there are serious medical conditions beyond the issue that follows that you should seek medical attention for when it comes to pooping anxiety, none of which I am covering.
No, it’s more the fact that you want privacy to relieve your bowels and don’t want anyone else present, and/or you can only make a deposit at the porcelain bank in your home, but never in public.
This is not healthy and you need to remember, that everyone, and I mean everyone poops, no one is exempt and it is the 1 statement that can be an ALL and EVERY.
Offload Some Freight On The Plane Ride And Don’t Worry About It
So, when you are on a plane ride, and you need to pinch a loaf, let the deed be done, it’s a shameless, must happen task, wherever and whenever, the prairie dog might be rearing its head, just go don’t worry about other judgy people, you do you, and let the everyone else worry about their bowel issues, at least you will feel better!
However, denying the urge, and not letting the kill in the bathroom but instead keeping it inside yourself will create constipation that can lead to severe stomach pains, bowel clogging for days, misery as well as back pain, and the inability to eat great foods and drink fun drinks!
For anyone traveling to the most magical place on earth, here is a fun joke for you!
What do you call a Magical Fairy that uses a toilet? Stinker Bell~
Go poop on the plane, and don’t be embarrassed to embark on the short walk to the bathroom doors in the plane for fear of everyone knowing you had to have a bowel movement because baby when the poop comes knocking, let the door open and relieve yourself so you avoid getting backed up!
Anxiety Of Sharing A Poopatorium With Family Or Friends Or Your Partner
If you’ve chosen to go away with family, friends, or your partner, you’ll want to realize that you might be sharing a toilet and not just a vacation home, pool, kitchen, bed, or bedroom!
Again, everyone visits the oval office at some point to let out their brown business, so, just do what you have to do because if you don’t go when nature calls, you’ll get backed up and feel miserable!
And if you are worried about the people below you in a hotel or resort hearing you flush, don’t be, they go too!

The Hidden Agenda of Travel Constipation. How To Poop On Vacation
You are flying away or driving to a destination of choice and those sedentary trips, really take a toll on your digestive movement, slowing it up and creating dehydration!
Steps To Avoid Travel Constipation
There are ways to not get entangled with delayed bowel movements, and to poop on vacation, here’s how!
#1 Prep The Week Before You Travel
Take a stool softener every day the week before you leave and while you are on vacation and get your body working like a well-greased machine (hahah)
This will keep your poo soft and a little easier to pass!
Not sure which stool softener to purchase?
Purchase the name brand as we do or you purchase the store version (generic brand) of the same thing often it costs less.
#2 ~ Keep Supplements With You To Stay Regular While Traveling
Have something with you in case the normal stool softener does not help you enough because the softener just keeps it soft, unless you bought one with a laxative, you really won’t have to worry about a total blowout using a softener but it is smart to take that daily.
Whereas when you use a soft chew laxative, you will have a bit of a more powerful Number 2 session, and well, it might be necessary so you can feel better, therefore keeping a supplement such as this with you during travel is important.
For instance, these soft chews can help you release your vacation poop in about 30 minutes after taking it!
So you can try any of the following to help you bomb the bowl
- Stool Softener – for daily use to keep those logs rolling out with ease
- Miralax if you need a way to move your bowels along on a more daily basis (again talk to your doctor)
- Dulcolax can give you that 1-2 punch to get the crap out of there and move on with your vacation!
- A bit of zero sugar chocolate also can help as the sugar-free ingredients often act as a laxative if you eat a bit too much (is that Too Much Information?)
- Don’t forget Magnesium Citrate – but guzzling about a 1/2 bottle of this is either doing to be very helpful or not and it could not release or trigger that payload for hours or it could trigger it right away, totally a gamble based on your body! (it does nothing for my body!)
#3 ~ Stay Hydrated To Keep Away From Delayed Bowel Movements When Traveling
Your body is 90% water and it needs lots of water to stay hydrated, if your flight to anywhere is more than an hour, you’ll want to drink at least 10 oz of water every hour at a minimum.
Flying creates dehydration, as you may be less apt to drink while on a flight to avoid pee and poop anxiety while on flights.
Additionally, processed airport food choices don’t help, and if you ate some of the purchased food it has a lot of sodium, so you won’t be hydrated as the food will use the water in your body to process the food that you ate!
You can also DRINK Prune juice or consume prunes to move things along inside the intestines!
#4 ~ Once At Your Destination Walk And Sip
Since your travel might have begun early in the AM and totally ripped hell on your normal schedule for pooping, you’ll want to help yourself along in a few ways.
Take a nice stroll throughout the hotel/house/resort, whatever you are staying in, and keep a bottle of water in hand.
Often at check-in, they have water in a pitcher with lemon or water in bottles they provide, suck it up buttercup!
If after a bit of exercise, there’s not a feeling of the urge to surge, you need to continue on in the quest to poop on vacation, keep reading.
#5 ~ Just Say No To These Items If You Want To Poop On Vacation
You might smell freshly brewed coffee or see lovely-looking tea options, all with caffeine, just don’t drink them and keep looking at them instead.
When you have not pooped and are bound up, these are your frenemy, so avoid them.
Of course, you might learn that there is a happy hour reception each evening and it’s just 30 minutes from when you checked in and you want to start your party, but your bowels are backed up with poo that you gotta get out, so no alcohol.
Alcohol dehydrates further, so avoid this until the magic moment that you are relieved of constipation occurs, don’t drink!
#6 ~ Be The Lucky One Who gets To Poop On Vacation By Striving To Consume The Following
Munch on some prunes, or drink an 8-ounce glass of prune juice, warm or cold.
Keep your diet filled with plenty of whole grains including oatmeal and bran cereals, avocados, kiwi, and very ripe bananas (these really help move your bowels).
You can also choose beans and artichokes, but remember they come with a serious side effect known as flatulence, and you might want to be careful that you don’t single-handedly propel the plane yourself (just kidding, but seriously they are gassy foods.)
#7~ The Option For When You Want Instant Relief From Delayed Bowel Movements When Traveling
Naturally, I know there are those of you who just want to get this overwith and you really don’t want to deal with drinking more or eating lots of fibrous foods to get your poop on, so there is a quick method, however, it does come at your rather fast and furious and in my realm, is used as the least likely method to cure traveling constipation.
So how do you make yourself poop faster than a lightning bolt? You use a Fleet Enema and let it all just explode out of you!
If you use this method to rid backed-up bowels, do note you might want to purchase a soothing balm for what could potentially be an overworked anal sphincter as well as a pack of these cooling towelettes to calm what might be happening down there!
#8 Another Way To Stay Hydrated To Help Relieve Constipation After Flying or Other Sedentary Travel
I mean what won’t you do to feel better from that force that is grumbling in your belly but refuses to pass out of your intestine and into the trapper keeper that flushes?
Here’s another creative idea to help birth that poop baby right on out, it means staying hydrated and hydration leads to easier passing of the doodly doo!
Use Liquid IV. I love this stuff, and use it daily, because of other medication I take, but it is really a great source of hydration and… if you get your vacation poop moving along and start drinking, it’s a babydoll of a cure before the hangover hits! La Vie Es Belle (LIFE IS GOOD!)
